I'm interested in getting anyone together who might be interested in meeting for dinner/lunch at the Shady Maple Smorgasbord (East Earl, PA in Lancaster County) for a "get re-acquainted, pre-reunion" gathering. Anyone interested? Please enter a response and we'll try to set up a date.

Where is the Shady Maple? I think you should include geographic location for some people who either are out of
town or don't get out much.

I updated the message...probably won't help. The Shady Maple is an institution in SE Pa. If you live in the area, you've probably heard about it. For more detail it's at the junction of Rt 23 and Rt 322 in East Earl, PA.

I've been to the Shady Maple - the heart of Amish country! the food is good. I am in Harrisburg and would be interested in attending. I was fairly non-descript in highschool and don't know many of our former classmates, but think it would be fun to meet some of you now.

Awesome, Betty! We're still looking for some more people, but you're on our list for when we set it up! This will be a good way to get to know at least a few of us before the reunion in 2010!

I had to laugh when you addressed me as Betty! I was Betty growing up, so added that to my profile. After I moved to college I started going by Liz. So I am Liz except to childhood friends and to family. My brother said my name changes when I cross the county line! :>)

I am interested in the Shady Maple trip.

I just came across this forum as I am browsing at 6am post end of Day light savings time, Why can't we leave the time alone? I have a hard enough time sleeping. Anyway, we hope to be coming in for the reunion from Florida, we don't know what a Shady Maple is but would be interested in knowing and trying to get there. Our plans are to drive up to New Jersey to visit my brother and then come in from there. We will be staying near Whipples Dam at the camp and at one of my other brothers homes (don't tell them, they
don't know yet Ha Ha). I will send this on to Anne Smith and Fred Dorman as they are hoping to attend the reunion as well.

I wold like to go to the Shady Rest and visit Uncle Joe, then head down to Sam Drucker's general store.

My wife and I can' make it over to Lancaster County, but we will arrive in Altoona either Tuesday or Wednesday (more likely) prior to the reunion, and we would love to get together with some fellow classmates for some pre-reunion partyin. As time draws closer, I will look back to see if there is any interest!

We flying into BWI on Wednesday, 7/21, driving to Altoona and will be staying at my sister's in Altoona. If you're free Wednesday night or Thursday, let me know.
